Find a vet

Recommended Posts

For those having difficulty finding a vet that treats poultry the royal college of veterinary surgeons (RCVS) has an online search facility that covers th UK - if you go to the 'advance search' option towards the bottom of the page you can tick the 'treats poultry' and then just put your town or first part of your postcode in and it will come up with the 100 nearest to you. I find it works best if you put in a town name.

...if people find this useful perhaps it should be a sticky?

The thing is that 'Poultry' in these terms may mean vets who advise on commercial flocks - my own vet didn't come up, although they've been happy to advise me on chickens.

They're not specialists, but I'd rather use them than have to travel miles with a sick bird to a vet that I don't know.

A useful link, but don't be put off if your own vet doesn't appear, it's worth ringing them to ask.

that's a really good link thanks,it will add to my "Ooops, word censored!"nal of good points about it being easy to keep chickens( as our local vet that is within walking distance of me :D treats chickens) so OH need not have anything at all to do with them
