I've been had. TWICE!

Usually I just glance through my bank statements, but as it is half term and I have a bit more time, I decided to through them in greater detail, only to discover that I have lost nearly £100 since January through 2 internet sites.

 

One of them is SHOPPER DISCOUNTS

 

The other is Emusic.com

 

I have been paying out each moth for absolutely NOTHING. Silly me!

The stupid part is that I DID authorise one and my daughter authorised the other, we just didn't read the small print - which the companies rely on.

 

They both say that you will be charged a subscription (although the Shoppers discount one doesn't say how much). I've cancelled it now. It was a link to something I bought on Interflora and I've heard that people have also been HAD by clicking on the same link from 'The train Line'. It's a sort of legal scam for the unaware.

 

The emusic one has no contact phone number and they draw you in by offering a free Audio book and then signing you up for their monthly charges, my daughter said that she said no when they asked to activate the account, but they still managed to charge me for 2 months before I noticed.

 

I would urge everyone to double check bank and credit card statements in minute detail from now on!

I'm afraid that shoppers discount one from Interflora got me too...I had no idea I had subscribed to anything and was paying out £10 each month.....

 

damn annoying....

 

I think the hook was to give you a future discount...

 

 

so dont feel so bad.(apart from the fact we've lost money for nothing )

 

..at least you've warned others to beware !! :-D

There are so many of these things about its insane...

I`m so sorry that it has occured... remember that you can check things out with the ombudsman and also its sometimes good to find out if others have had similar problems...

Perhaps join up to the Martin Lewis site..has a ton of helpful info!

Well my daughter, (is she mine I ask myself) dld this and was stung for the weekly and monthly charges, if you remember after thousands of complaints tv information ect suddenly their information was easier to find..prior to that there was little to find on the website and it was made exceedingly hard to cancel.

 

I use Vistaprint for a load of items and one thing I discovered is that IF you are ever foolish enough to click the...*you have 10 mins to claim further discounts* link..or even say yes to the *free extra things..website building, i love films ect ect... you will astonishingly discover that you have signed up for some club membership!

Having then discovered this I checked up on google saw this world wide problem and wrote a very sharp letter and was taken off the list..

I still use vistaprint but never ever click any so called extras!

You just have to wonder why these companies do this... obviously I realise that they are making money hand over fist prior to you finding out, and sometimes its very difficult to recoup that back, but they get such bad bad press,,,

As I said I use vistaprint and do recommend them, but everyone I recommend I give dire warnings about the catch..

So many of these subscription style companies do take extra payments even after you have cancelled and if you add up the amount of people that discover* it against the amount that dont, add to that the *interest* they make over a year world wide, it really is outragious!
