Margalot
Hello, I am really worried about Bonbon. She was fine yesterday but I have just noticed she is shaking her head every few seconds, not vigorously but just a little flick and closing her eyes as if she wants to sleep. I have just given them some corn, which she ate a little of then she walked really slowly back into the run and promptly sat down on the run floor and puffed herself up. I am due to go away for the weekend tomorrow and am now worried that she will be ill or even die whilst we are away!! She is not herself. I am going to try to examine her in a mo, but I didnt want to stress her out. Is there anything Homeopathic I can give her today?? They were all wormed just over a week ago, have citricidal in their water and many healthy treats, just dont know whats best to do?
Cooks
have you checked her for lice? I am no expert but I would do this myself.
sandyhas3chucks
might she have an egg on the way? soft or normal?
Margalot
Ive just given her a quick look, her crop feels fine but empty as if she hasnt eaten today. Cant see any lice, but I am going to enlist my sons help and de louse powder her today. I am going to pop down my local small holder store and get some battles poultry drink to add to the water. I am due to give the coop a good scrub later this pm so its all clean before we go away. I cant tel if she has laid today, but we only had 3 eggs yesterday and 3 today? Ive never experienced a softie? so dont know what to expect? Thanks Michelle
sandyhas3chucks
Might be, they feel sad or look it. Often sit fluffed up, you may see some straining... She might not feel like eating too, can take all day to pass it. After y recent experince I'd feel happier with the empty crop rather than a non emptying one. Poor you about to go away too. A worry, lets hope she pops something out before yoyu go to put your mind at rest.(suppose it could be a big one coming too?) Hopefuly other will pop in soon!) Margalot
Well back from shop with a bottle of Life-Guard poultry tonic! Its has lots of goodies in it lots of vitamins, echinacea, oregano, rosemary Ginkgo bilboa, so will go and do my cleaning chores now! It was 3 times the price of Battles poultry drink, but looked as if it might be more suitable for a sick hen!! Not looking forward to a softie though!! if thats what it is? Hope shes not shamming or putting on a sulk as we are leaving her, found the most huge cabbage today that we are going to hang in their run for them! Going to put that in as late as possible though as they go mad for it and it could all be gone before we go otherwise!

We have been away for the weekend and had some one come and check their food/water etc. I haven't had time to observe her, but all seems well at the moment. there was one really BIG egg when we got back so maybe she had that on her mind?? Anyway thank you for the help its really reassuring to have all the knowledge that you can all offer.......Thank you!
