Scramble
...tomorrow even though I'm sure it will be fun, I'm going to miss the chickens. I'm going to worry about them and long for them. I even had to make little felt chickens with their names sewn on for me to take with me I have my next door neighbour looking after them. He is a gardener and a good friend of the family, his wife has lived next to us forever since she bought the house off her mum. Her daughter loves the chickens and is going to look after them with her Dad. I know they'll do a good job, but I'm worried all the same... I've never had pets before and this is the first time I leaving the chickens alone for more than a day... can't help it.... I also feel bad as the chickens wont be able to come out as they need to be supervised due to foxes and birds of prey but they are only two little pekins and the have a run and converter, they have their grub and glug, an extra water container, a plantpot for dust baths,a grit pot, peckyblocks hung up, pots of little green 'mind your own business' which they love and we're rolling out some fresh turf this evening...will this be enough to keep them happy for a week? thoughts appreciated xx
Barkisland
Yes, I'm sure they will be fine, especially with your lovely neighbours to spoil them (I know how you feel though. We normally go away for 2-3 weeks in February, but we didn't this year - mainly because I didn't want to leave my girls ). oops, forgot to say, have a great holiday! finger lickin good
We are going away in June for a week and have managed to persuade my Mum and Dad to up sticks for the week to look after the girls. They will also be bringing their cat with them, who is quite fond of chicken watching as she comes to stay when my parents go away. Think my mum is secretly looking forward to chicken sitting and keeps asking for instructions. I will be able to enjoy the hol a lot more knowing they are in safe hands. splodge88
I've came back from a week's holiday (in Butline!), and the chickens were fine even though they were confined to the run. They were a bit confused when we came back & let them out but soon remembered who we were and everything. Have no worries they'll be fine. Of course, you'll still woryy but just try telling yourself its okay, and if needs be, phone your helpful neighbour each day
