Being invaded by 100's of flys.... HELP!

Recommended Posts

When I had my eglu I used to get some kitchen roll and tear off a couple of strips and place some under the shade and some in the poo tray.

I then make up a mixture of 3/4 bottle of water (in garden spray bottle) with a few drops of citronella oil, lavender oil & eucalyptus oil into the water and shake. I spray onto the kitchen roll pieces. Now I have my walk in run I have an old duster hanging down from the rafters of the run and spray that 2-3 times a week to freshen up and it wafts about in the wind.

No flies here. :D

I've made this mix too but still have lots of flies outside but it does keep them from inside the eglu. I empty the poo tray every morning and put a fresh sheet of newspaper in and give that a quick spray so it stays nice smelling and fly free.

I got the Citronella from a shop selling candles etc, cost £1. You can get it from Holland and Barrett I think.

It's not my runs it's my garden that I have a problem with. started a fli trap off before it started... thought if I could catch the blighters before they breed. I am thnking of spraying citronella ecery where. Pooh barely touches the ground before I scoop it up!

I had a fly problem BEFORE the girls though. have dogs but again nothing is ever left down. they seem worst when the ground is damo a grass longer.

I really HATE then!
