Funny Feathers
I can't believe the girls are here! Managed to get them home without major mishap and with the addition of an egg(!) They've spent the afternoon pottering about their run in the sunshine, with us as an appreciative audience. But oh, they are in a state, bless them! D'Arcy, the biggest and bossiest by far, looks in the best shape, but even she looks tatty. Pomme, Pippin and Reinette are much smaller, thinner and have far less feathers. Even in this awful state, you can still see their different characters coming through and they've definitely been giving us the once over and checking us out. Getting them in to the eglu was interesting too - Pomme the quietest, was in there straight away, but the others took some gentle persuasion and at one point I thought D'Arcy was settling herself in the corner of the run for the night! Luckily, even she got the message finally and we haven't heard a peep from them since. I wonder what tomorrow will bring...

Funny Feathers
As requested, here are some photos of the girls since their arrival on Saturday. The photos still don't make it clear how poorly looking these girlies are - it doesn't look like it, but there are lots of places where there are no feathers at all! Anyway, they have wormed their way in to the family's affections completely and are just delightful. They put themselves to bed last night without any bother and have now given us 5 lovely brown eggs which my daughter put to good use in a delicious victoria sponge yesterday - yummy cakes, here we come! Hope the next lot of photos show a real improvement. Thanks for all your good wishes. Watch this space...
