kitchens
Had the most fantastic day yesterday. It was my mum's birthday so we took a trip down to Perch Hill Farm (Sarah Raven's Cookery School) as it was open for the National Garden Scheme. It is such a lovely place - The gardens were very inspiring and very do-able (its not a huge place). Bought some lovely plants for my garden (fab value) and picked up some very good ideas. Lunch was fab and the day was bliss. Mum enjoyed herself too The garden is not usually open to the public I think she might be open a couple more times this year - I highly recommend it if you can get to it. Funny, Adam Nicolson was on the gate taking the money!! I'm a happy bunny

ubereglu
Sounds nice, I always like to look at pictures of her garden because of the wonderful mix of plants, flowers and veggies.

kitchens
I think we will go again, I like to visit my fave places a few times a year to see the garden progress throughout the seasons. She is open for one day every month so I can see it becoming a regular haunt of mine over the summer as we won't be going on holiday this year. poppy33
I did notice that she has no chickens, i was quite suprised by that...but then maybe she fears what the little feathered hooligans may do to such a beautiful garden With all the land at Perch hill she could at least have a walk in run and rescue a few ex bats
kitchens
Hi Poppy She does have chickens. As you walk in from the car park field where the lovely shepherds hut is and enter the garden (but before you get to her veg patch garden) they are on the left hand side. They live in a shed coop and have a covered run. I counted 5 but some others could have been inside laying I was pleased to see she had some its the first thing I went to look at They could be new I suppose. poppy33
Ooooh, must have missed them, what a shame. I did think it a little odd as i know she runs the cookery school from Perch Hill and I just somehow could not imagine her buying eggs as she is so self sufficient. I was probably admiring her Tulips, wow they were fantastic.
