Auto door randomly closing during the day

I am cat sitting for neighbour. Went in this morning and fridge/freezer (Zanussi) was beeping and display showing freezer temp is -9.

 

Found manual but was no help. Checked door was closed (!). Turned off and on at socket. Still showing as -9 and beeping.

 

Can't get in touch (mobile switched off), nowhere to move freezer contents to.

 

Can anyone advise - will the food in the freezer be safe? Incidentally there is a thermometer in the freezer and that reads about -15.

 

Anyone know what to do when the Zanussi alarm goes off?

Sorry I can't help Tina, but have you looked online under the model number? There are usually some Q&A pages that help, otherwise, ring Zanussi and ask them.

Good ideas Clootie/Clare. Have just been over there again and there are ice cubes that are still ice cubes so does not appear to be defrosting.

 

Will give it a bit longer (have put SOS out on Facebook to get their other mobile no...) before I try calling Zanussi - as may get into the realms of charges etc and its not my freezer/they may have warranty etc.

 

Oh well, at least the cats are OK!
