Hi,

 

Martha my black rock, I think is unwell.

 

She laid a softie earlier in the week, and then laid a large egg on Friday and seemed a bit better.

 

However, yesterday and today she has just been standing at the back of the run, not eating and drinking (although she did free range and eat grass with the others yesterday). She looks a bit puffed up and has withdrawn her head into her body and is just standing there.

 

I am concerned that she may be egg bound, or about to lay another softie.

 

I've only had my girls for a fortnight, so am very new to looking after chickens. I don't want Martha to be suffering. The other 3 are all very active and are eating and drinking well.

Really worried now.

 

I've followed all the instructions from Eglutine, and she's isolated from the other girls on a heat pad with towels in our study.

 

However, I can't feel an egg, but down from her head towards her chest, I can feel a lump and am thinking she might be crop bound. (I've compared to one of the other chickens who doesn't have it).

 

I really need advice, I'm so worried about her.

 

Should I feed her anything?
