Recommended Posts

Both eyes of one of my bantams are watery, it is a bit jelly like but perfectly clear fluid. does any one know what this is ? i hope to avoid a trip to the vets if possible as i was there last monday with my cockerel, and i was chardged nearly £50 to come home with antibiotics.

Before my first post, i bathed her ears with cool boiled water. ten mins after they were the same again. However i posted on here then looked at other eye posts on here. Their complaints weren't the same as mine but i saw people had recomended cool tea. So off i went to get her again but her eyes looked fine this time but i bathed them with tea anyway. hopefully she'll be ok. While i'm talking about this pullet, when i got her she had missing feathers on the front of her neck, there are no sign of nasties but what would have caused this ?

Cor you're having a right time of it  Sorry I've got no advice worth giving, just wanted to lend some moral support :)

Thank you. My broody is not snapping out of it. She is a pekin so a good mother. She is a lavendar pekin(very beautiful), so is the father, its tempting, isn't it !? She hasn't layed a clutch of eggs yet.

one thing after another...sounds like you are having a right time of it!

Hope they are all settled now. You can get chloramphenicol eye drops over the counter now..but as everyone says look to see what else may be causing it ? lice etc

preboiled cooled salty water to bathe is good..then i would chloramphenicol drops its used on babies(so am sure a chicken will be fine)

You will have to find an amenable pharmacist. .

good luck indie
