chickens PRE the battery cage

Recommended Posts

Sorry to hear about Ian's job Justine.

A thought I had was maybe for a while you should do what I've done and take on hens that need to be rehomed for various reasons. Apart from my original 2 from omlet I've got the rest of my girls from the forum so whilst there isn't the same glow of rescuing ex-bats I still feel like I've provided a home for hens that needed a new home. Significantly less chance of having to incur large vet bills as they would tend to be as healthy as any other chickens.

Very good luck for your little Maud.

The vets bills can be crippling - in the week I nursed my two poorly girls, all their treatment and then their euthanasia and cremation came to just over £300!! OUCH!

Thing is, to me they are part of the family and I'd rather spend the money if I have it and know I tried everything before saying goodbye. So tough though.

Hope your girl continues to respond to the treatment

thanks everyone. Don't let this turn into a thread about Ian's situation, he'll kill me as he didn't want me to say anything :shh:

You're all very sweet though ;) xxx

I think, when the time comes, we might get a cple more ordinary hybrids and if the money situation changes we'll add to that with a cple more ex batts, we shall see, but it's good to consider the options and thanks for all the suggestions.

xxx
