4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

A Newbie question here.

 

I am picking up two chickens today (Blackrocks) from the same supplier and another one (RIR Hybrid) from a different location on Sunday.

 

If I put two in the Eglu today will they bully the one that comes on Sunday? Ideally I wanted to get them all on the same day, but it isn't possible.

 

Also, in terms of friendliness (I have two small boys) are these breeds good to have?

We had to add a new one after about 4 days and it was absolutely fine. They will still all be confused and nervous being moved to a new place so should accept the new one OK. Our two black rocks are not especially friendly but not unfriendly either, they kind of keep themselves to themselves. Mind you we haven't spent ages taming them as they live behind an electric fence so we only really go in to get eggs or give them their treats. The friendlies is the Goldline (standard ginger chicken) which is another RIR hybrid.

You have me thinking about the Black Rocks now - really want some nice friendly birds if possible. Might put up a post to see if anyone has any experiences good or bad with the breed.

Hi ,thought I would ask as well, had my Girlies 5 days today and got home from work last night amd Tallulah was dead.. Lavender is terribly upset, pacing up and down and making a lot of noise, she is home alone as we are all at work. very stressful.

Omlet cant deliver until 29th May and will take Lavender away and give 2 new chooks, but we love Lavender already, if I got a new bird today or tomorrow can I just put them in together straight away, also where would i get a bird?? I live in Welling, Kent.

HELP please.

Just wanted to say that we have a Black Rock Betty... and she is lovely and friendly - she was always the most confident, but is inquisitive, happy to be picked up and loves to be stroked. My Goldline is a bit boistrous for my 4 year old - the Goldline Ruby is a big bird and too pushy/greedy really - Lily finds her intimidating!

Margaret, exactly the same happened to me after 3 weeks. I went to a local breeder and bought another chook as it was too long for the lonely chicken to wait for omlet. Omlet will send you a list of local breeders and if you get one approx the same age they will soon et used to each other as each is alone. I put the new one in the run for the afternoon and let the old one free range then put them in together at night. There was a bit of pecking the next day but not much and they are now inseparable. Omlet were really helpful and refunded me the £10 I spent on my new chicken too. It's important in my view not to leave the lonely one on her won for any longer than necessary as they do pine. Good luck!
