4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi

 

One of my chickens has always had very fat breasts - when she runs down the garden they wobble. She doesn't seem to have any crop problems and eat, drinks, poos, lays fine. She has also had a fairly croaky 'bok bok' though.

 

A friend was round last night who has quite a lot of chickens and said that it wasn't normal for her to be like that. He thought that her breasts felt like there was fluid on them as opposed to just fat.

 

Do you think I should be worried? She has been like that for about 8 months (since she started laying) and it has never occurred to me that it is a problem. Should I take her to the Vet?

She looks fine to me. The crop is nornaly quit efull by bedtime, they digest it over night,

I can see what he means...she does look a bit full bosomed.

 

If she is otherwise well, then it is probably nothing to worry about. If it is a longstanding crop problem she would not be thriving.

She is absolutely fine otherwise and as I said, I had just assumed she was very fat.... she's been like that for at least 8 months so I assume it isn't causing her any harm.

 

I'll keep an eye on her.
