I think they've been watching chicken run!

Recommended Posts

I've just got home from a couple of days away with the kids to find a note through the door from our neighbours letting us know our chickens escaped twice today and were found buy another neighbour wandering down the road about 3 doors down :( (Thank God we live in a quiet cul de sac!) lovely husband feels sorry for them being cooped up in the eglu run all day ( they do do a good impression of a caged pacing tiger!) so obviously decided to let them out in to the big run we have set up before going to work. So they have got out of our fenced off area and out of our supposedly chicken safe garden. :wall: I don't know how they do it? Does anyone else have escapee chickens?

oh yes! Mine have a patch netted off to a height they can't get over and pegged down everywhere - and yesterday I came home to find Pumpkin roaming around having eaten my peony. I checked and have no idea at all how she got out!

I do !

When I had my initial 2 one got broody and the other got lonely so she used to join the builders across the rd as they renovated the house, she was ever so happy pecking around the garden with them wandering around and the radio on. She wandered off to the infant school opposite one day as well.

Today I opened the door to find my next door neighbour (the side that likes chickens & fresh eggs) holding one of our chickens. She'd been wandering around his drive.

They do escape into the garden of the neighbour that doesn't like them as well unfortunately

We have two that escape. The Vorwerk flies over their compound and into our garden but has started going into next doors garden these past couple of days :( We've no chance of catching her so we've been to B & Q tonight to buy wood to make the compound more secure. Our Black Rock also gets into his garden if they're free ranging and even spent two nights sleeping out in it when we were away in November and my Dad and inlaws were looking after the chickens
