Could anybody advise me as to how to trim a chicken's beak? Two of my chickens' bottom jaw beak has grown about 4 mm longer than the top. Is this usual? All the articles I read say the top grows more than the bottom! How do I trim it and with what please? I have nail trimmers for my cat/dog, are these suitable?

I'm not sure, but be careful.

 

It should wear down as they free-range and scratch about in the garden.

A couple of mine have beaks exactly as you describe and manage perfectly well.

 

You really only need to trim them if the top one overgrows massively, or grows in a cross wise fashion.
