Flubenvet - dosing and how to give - also Bokashi, Garlic &

Apple cider vinegar!

The Omlet man said yesterday that the girls need worming asap as they've not been done yet. We have some Flubenvet but I'm not sure of the dosage quantities or how to give it to them. They don't seem too keen on grapes so that trick is out!

Any advice please? Thanks

Edited to add - we also have some queries regarding Bokashi, Garlic powder and apple cider vinegar - ordered all these from Omlet and they arrived with the girls yesterday. What do I do with them?! I know the Bokashi and garlic powder is added to their feed, but how much, how often? And the cider vinegar is added to their water? We're giving fresh water daily (as they make it so messy!) so how much should I put in and is this every day?

Thanks so much!

This thread here has some information Seraphine, but check it's the same strength of Flubenvet, as they do a 1% now for domestic poultry owners.

It's best mixed very thoroughly with their food rather than administered on a grape anyway, because you can overload their livers with high doses. If in any doubt, is there a contact number for Flubenvet online somewhere that you could call to get advise?

Hi

Regarding Flubenvent. Useful leaflet available from Janssen Animal Health, 01494 567555, emal: ahealth@jacgb.jnj.com, or maybe your local vet. It gives clear steps on dosing. Personally I have been able to administer a teaspoon in a handful of mealworms (all the girls love them) or the bigger girls with a grape dipped in Flubenvent for five/seven days.

I give the girls apple cider vinegar every day, about a tablespoon in a full watering can, divided between three Glugs. They love it.

Bokashi bran - tried it but found little benefit - poo consistency did not alter.

Hope this helps.

I know a lot of people who dose flubenvet using grapes, I just dose my hens using correct ratio of wormer/feed. To the layers pellets I add a tiny amount of sunflower oil and then distribute if evenly amongst the feed, add the measure of flubenvet and distribute that evenly (I do normally put it in a bucket that has a lid on and give it a good shake about)this helps the flubenvet stick to the feed rather than ending up on the floor of the runs.

May not work for everyone and some people might thing its a bit of a palaver but it works for me.
