Silkie eggs have pipped! (pic added)

I agree - yours is definite partridge. My Scooter is going more golden now. I believe silkies are very hard to sex - may have to wait for crows or eggs.

Craftyhunnypie and EggLou, I have a friend who breeds, keeps and shows white silkie bantams and he has been able to roughly sex all his chicks from about 1 week old, it is not accurate but usually is right. The boys have a larger pom pom and are much bossier than the girls. Sounds like you've got one of each Craftyhunnypie!

Good Luck

*Griffin dashes off to grab her two silkies from the brooder to compare their pom poms*

:lol::lol: Mine actually are as quiet as church mice, I thought it was because they were dwarfed by the Dorkings & Orpingtons. Fingers crossed for girls!

Oh mine are quiet & as daft as a brush - actually don't flinch when you pick them up. Mine don't really have pom poms as such. My sister's last year had huge pom poms - she had 3 day old chicks from Wernlas - she got 1 male & two female. It's all confusing stuff.

I'll love them whatever they will turn out to be. When I say bossy - it's just sort showing the other how to do everything, even though it hatched second. It's cute really.

I'll take some more photos next week.
