How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

I am a new and very proud owner of three chickens who are all doing very well it seems in the two weeks since they arrived from omlet. One is not quite laying yet but the other two are providing us with an egg or two almost every day which we are delighted by. I am still learning about what treats to give them in the afternoon but have discovered that they absolutely LOVE garlic bread and basically mug me for it then chase each other around the garden yelling and carrying on as if it's the first day of the Woolworth's sale! Hilarious to watch... but should I really be feeding them garlic bread???

They do like it, but lots of treats will mean that they're not getting the nutrients necessary to produce eggs. Too much salt isn't good either.

 

If you want to indulge them, then just a small bit in the evening is fine.

Don't forget that bread swells when wet too, so can swell in their crops and block them.

 

If you do give bread, make sure it's soaked first to avoid impacted crops.

I never feed my girls bread - I've seen too many impacted crops as a result of it.

Isn't it funny what they get a taste for!!

 

As others have said though i would avoid bread or if they do have it a very little and soak this first.

Thank you for your replies. I think I will be a bit more wary about giving them bread. I have discovered poultry corn and think I will stick to small handfuls of that as treats (as well as other more healthy treats.)... but thank you for your tips!
