BBC Gardener's World Live

Recommended Posts

I went yesterday, and met Omletina/Diane!

It was lovely to meet another Omleteer at last, and she soon persuaded me that I could do with another Eglu (not that I took much persuading though ). I think my mum actually sold another Eglu whilst Diane was writing my details down It was great to see the different colours and I am glad I have seen the cube at last, in the flesh.

A tip for anyone who is a subscriber to Gardeners World, take your membership card and they let you use the Gardeners World lounge, where you get free packets of seeds and a free bottle of water. You get a badge to wear so you can return to the lounge whenever you want a rest. You can also get discounts at some stalls with the membership card. The lounge is not too far from the Omlet stand.

I did the food bit first and then into the indoor gardening stuff after, finally going to the RHS marquee and the outside stands last, it was not too congested that way around. The show opens at 9am so if you get there then it will be fairly quiet for a couple of hours. The West Midlands has concessionary bus and rail fares from 9.30 so the local rabble (like me!) arrive any time after 10am. Bear in mind that the show is at the far end of the NEC complex, in halls 17, 18, 19 and 20, so a fair way from the railway station, but there is a skywalk to help you get there faster . If travelling by car the nearest car parks are the north ones ie, those with the letter N as a prefix.

I was blown away by the poppies being sold on some of the stands, breathtaking colours and really tall too. I resisted the urge to buy any plants though, I think my garden is full now

I hope everyone visiting this show has a great time, I did, and can't wait for next year's now!

Edited to add, look out for Rebekah's vegetable seeds in the RHS marquee, she sells veg and herb seeds in brown envelopes for £1 a pack and 6 for a fiver. She has a really great selection if you are looking for anything unusual. There were at least ten types of chard, I got some anise and angelica seeds amongst others :D

What colour have you chosen?

Eglu no 2 will be green. Boring I know but Diane suggested it may be darker inside for the chickens, and as little cockerel has been crowing for several weeks now, at least I can be 99% sure he won't be crowing in the Eglu. The green was actually much nicer in the flesh than I thought too :D

It was a lovely day! I was really impressed by some of the companies displaying their wares!

Well, I couldn't wait for Omlet to phone me, so I just phoned them :D My lovely new green Eglu will arrive on 3rd July.

Green is lovely, but so is the purple and lilac!!!

I'm still tempted to get another eglu and buy some bantams to go inside it, but I need to get the garden sorted first.

Yes Liz, I have to agree, all the colours are fab! I thought I would stay with the neutral garden colour though, otherwise I'll end up like Lesley, but at the show price it would be rude not to buy another Eglu

I haven't waited to finish the garden, the new lawn is still in a box in the utility :lol:

Anyone else going to Gardener's World as a visitor? All the plants are so lovely, I couldn't decide what to buy so bought nothing (apart from the Eglu  )

I went on Sunday and met Little Cluckers at the Omlet stand :D . Show was quiet to begin with but then got really, really busy towards lunchtime.

I bought some blueberry bushes from one stall - went to get a trolley, and got hopelessly lost! Kept going round and round the hall past the same stalls getting funny looks from the vendors.

Eventually found my blueberry bushes (an hour later).

Hope LC had time for a break and a wander around! 8)
