Sky
Well we are off to Spain later and now we have chickens as well as two ponies, two dogs, tortoises and tropical fish. The dogs have gone to kennels, the ponies and tortoises as usual are being dealt with by mother in law, the tropical fish take care of themselves and the chickens ................ well ................... the garden has turned into a battle zone (see pics) and if that darn fox gets through I shall be very very annoyed. We have FoxWatch and electrified fence so that my girlies can come out and go to bed on their own. Mother in law will be feeding and egg collecting that nothing goes wrong
Tiggy
lovely garden and you still have grass I'm sure they will be OK, may be worth putting some slabs down at some point to stop Mr Fox digging under your run
Sky
Our run gets moved every couple of days so putting slabs down would be a bit of a problem. The fencing round it is only there to protect from the fox while we are away. Luckily we have a couple of acres further down but we like to have the chickens near the house so that we can watch them
Tiggy
thats OK, would confuse Mr Fox & not give him/her chance to dig under, it also accounts for your lovely grass, have a good holiday
theherd123
As long as the battery for your electric fencing is working and there are no gaps that can be forced im sure all will be fine Have a wonderful, relaxing and worry free holiday
BocBoc
Wow! What a lovely garden - how on earth have you managed that with chickens?! Looks like you've made a good job of fox-proofing. Have a fabby holiday
Henhathnofury
Is that a real garden? Real grass? I had forgotten what it looks like now that the lizard footed ones are firmly in charge. Have a lovely holiday and the girls will miss you. One of mine flew herself at me when I came back after a week, chirruping and climbing on my lap. It was so gorgeous....
