Does anyone remember Captain Crunchy ?

Recommended Posts

OH starts his early retirement in a couple of weeks and he's said that at first it will feel like breaking up for the long summer holiday and not having to go back to school

It started me thinking about what we looked forward to back then and I remember that in the days before supermarkets, Mum used to buy the Captain Crunchy breakfast cereal from the local Co-Op.

I can still remember the little cubes of crunchyness that didn't go soggy in the milk. That summer it was our favourite breakfast cerial :D

The following summer we couldn't find it in any shop at all :(

Now that retro sweets are making a comeback, I'm hopeful that some of our old favourite cerials might be on the shelves for a limited period.

It must be the sunshine getting to me but I can see myself sitting on the sofa, breakfast in a bowl on my knee, eyes fixed to the TV watching either 'Robinson Crusoe' or 'White Horses'.......and I can't get that theme tune out of my head

I hope it doesn't start bugging those of you in Omletland of a certain age :D

Hello YP

I remember the Golden Nuggets and agree that they did seem quite large when they first appeared.

From memory the CCs were less sweet but might have had a greater fat content to stop they getting drenched in the milk.

GNs were a few years after CCs as I can picture myself watching TIS-WAS eating a bowl of those. :D

Sorry.....but I just had to share this.

OH and I must be on the same wave length for once. :)

Earlier today we walked by a shop with a display of mobility scooters in the window.

I turned to OH and said

"OK Steve"

and quick as a flash he said

"OK Venus" 8)

:whistle::whistle: "I wish I was a Spaaaaaace man, the fastest guy alive....."

:D

Thanks Aga n Chickens

How wonderful. I played both links twice. Oh the memories. I think I'll put Fireball on my iPod.

I loved those early Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

Four Feather Falls, featuring the voice of Nicholas Parsons, no less, was the first in 1960. I was nine. Then came Supercar and then Fireball XL5.

Blimey! What must kids used to computer generated stuff think?
