Ben
Has anyone else had this problem? One of my girls insisits on roosting over the nestbox, meabing when I let them out in the morning I also have to change the straw for the nest box. I've tried moving her when it's completely dark, but somehow she still goets back into position and the night's droppings are always there for me to clear up! The Dogmother
Try popping a football or upturned plant pot in the nest box at night. May I suggest that you change from using straw? It tends to get damp and mouldy in the underneath layers; if you read through the forum, most Omleteers use a hemp beddign called Aubiose - dry and non-smelly, it composts like a dream too. fluffyknickers
Couple of mine sleep in the nest box and I havent stopped them (too soft). However, I wouldnt/don't use straw and use aubiose. I simply go out in the morning let them out then go round and check for eggs then grab a handful of the poo (as use aubiose this is easy to do) and chuck it in an old pot ready for the composter. Ben
Thanks for this. Football is a great idea. That will stop her! I'll try and find out where to get the aubiose from too .
