4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi Guys,

 

Molly has hurt her leg some how, there was a bit of blood last night which i've put purple spray on.

 

this morning she wouldn't come out of the cube so I lifted her out and she is sitting on the floor. She is withdrawn but eating treats!

 

The others have been rotten to her and barging her so we've separated her for her safty...

 

her leg is at an odd angle when shes sitting

 

What should I do?

As I am not a chicken expert & without stating the obvious I would say straight to the vets or alternatively you could ring the chicken place you got her from as they should be able to help you.

 

Hope she is better soon and it is not too serious

Oh goodness

 

I would say that she may be sat awkwardly on it because its a littl painful rather than anything serious but do just check the bones, is she bearing any weight on it?

 

It could be that she got it caught somewhere and cut it by wrenching it so pulled some muscles

 

I think separating her was a good idea as is the purple spray, if she isn't better by MOnday it may be a vet job

I have to confess I'm a bit useless when it comes to these things. Will leave her seperate for a while.... If i'd know 25yrs ago i'd have so many animals i'd have done a vetinary course instead of nursing!!!

I would feel along the length of the leg to see if there are any obvious signs of a break or dislocation. If there are, she will need to see a vet asap.

 

If not, I would keep her separate and resting in a box or pet carrier so that it can have a chance to settle, for a couple of days.

 

Arnica pilules, 30c strength given 3 or 4 times a day may help with any bruising.
