I was house sitting for my Mum recently and unfortunately her last chicken died (aged 12 ). My Mum would like to get some more chickens but would prefer not to have ones like mine that trash the garden so am just wondering if anyone could recommend any relatively placid non-scratching types from experience?! I've heard that ones with feathered feet are the least likely to.

Pekin bantams

 

Any bantam is less likely to trash the garden, but pekins have masses of personatilty.

I have 2 bantams currently free to a good home- a Poland & a Silkie.

Neither of them make a mess at all.

Where abouts is your mum?
