Aah, I trod on Rita's foot tonight I was digging up worms for my chooks and stepped back on to Rita's tootsie, I felt awful It was OK, no damage but you can't really apologise or comfort a chicken can you?! I've trod on all of their feet now and even kicked Betty accidently once, what a horrible Mummy! Has anyone else been as clumsy as me?

Me too! Trodden on a few toes in my time - but it's revenge for them tripping me up every time I go out

Yep... me too. Trodden on a few toes.... felt guilty as they limped off. But they've always been fine. Like you say.... they will insist on getting under your feet!

I remember standing by the run and urging the chickens back in, and wondering why the one nearest me wasn't moving ... yup, I had her foot pinned firmly under mine!

 

They're very resilient, chickens, aren't they.

It's their faces...that mixture of dismay and sadness. But I have a big Speckled Sussex and yesterday she trod on MY foot. Believe it or not, it hurt.......

Ouch! Only yesterday I was digging up some ground that didn't really need to be dug to keep the chooks amused, (tell me I'm not alone) and I brought the fork down heavily down only to hear a huge sqwaark and bok behind me as I'd twonked Corbett on the bonce with the handle of the fork.

Yep - easily done! I've trod on them and tripped over them too I'm surprised sometimes at how far under your feet they get!

If we all go to the hot place after we die.....you do realise that the Devil may turn out to be a giant chicken with the most enormous dinosaur feet - standing on our feet for eternity? Whereas chicken heaven is watching it all on a big screen and chuckling into their feathers, whilst scoffing sweetcorn, grapes and pooing copiusly on fluffy white clouds. (No pellets/mash/tiring egg laying allowed)
