MaxBaz
I feel really silly writing this, but whilst we were on holiday (nearly a month) came back to see that Edwina has a large bald spot just above her tail (about one inch square) and a red rash on it. The feathers are starting to grow back, but I know that Caroline does peck her from time to time as I have seen her do it. At first I thought she might be moulting. It really looks like a rash as it is quite red, but she is behaving perfectly normally. Could it be the sun or is it something like red mites? Other chickens are absolutely fine. What should I do? The Dogmother
Sounds like a classic case of feather pecking to me. The skin will get irritated on exposure to the elements. Spray it with some purple spray that contains aloe vera to soothe the skin. Perhaps the bully could do with a bumper bit for a while to break the habit
