Yolky
Well a few threads lately have got me thinking. I have three Omlet girls a year ago now so they must be 18months old now. I am wondering approx how much longer should I expect egg production to go on for. I get 2 - 3 eggs every day at the moment.
Chickvic
I don't know but I'd be interested too. Got my girls 14 months ago and Ruby hasn't laid for 7 months anyway I'm hopefully getting 2 more in the summer to get more eggs again. I don't know how much longer Opal will lay
Yolky
Ruby sounds like a right cheeky freeloader
Chickvic
She had a moult - lots of feathers flying about but not really drastic and she never started laying again! I've give up now, she's happy and healthy and still runs round the garden like a mad thing so I'm not too worried. Although she now has fat, yellow legs quite a difference to Opal's legs. Snowy
My two gingernuts laid for 2 years then died However my Pepperpot is into her 4th year of laying and showing no signs of slowing down! She's still laying an egg a day! Except now she has one day off a week, rather than one day off a month
ubereglu
Well, they'll slow down during the winter, but I'm not sure really. My bluebelles are four years old now and they're still laying and at the minute you probably get four eggs from them each per week.
Goosey Lucy
My Omlet hens vary greatly. Chicken Licken hasn't laid an egg for months Ginger and Peppa produce between 8 - 12 eggs a week at the moment. They've been laying for about 21 months, 18 eggs a week for the first year but then it started to drop off. Ginger has moulted , Peppa is having a bit of a moult, Chicken Licken is just a free loader! I'm having to buy eggs in when I have baking for school fairs etc to do
