I needed cheering up; a happy eggy story

Recommended Posts

Having had an extremely frustrating and rather sad day, my bro told me this story about his 2.5 year old daughter which has cheered me up:

After about 5 weeks of keeping hens Chicken Mummy (my SIL) got up first (miracle). She went to check for eggs and found their first one. Great excitements. But she put it back for small daughter to find. Even greater excitements. Several exhausting hours later my bro boils it for ceremonial lunch. In egg cup. Bro hits it and slices top off. Cue much wailing and crying. Poor little girl can't understand that in order to eat your egg you have to break it first....and it really doesn't matter because you can't eat the shell and anyway whichever hen it was will lay another one tomorrow.....and other such persuasions from logical grown up.

PS She's a happy little girl now Daddy has more eggs than he knows what to do with :D

Sweet story :D They are so sweet and bright at that age.

My God daughter who's 2 and a bit and very clever was in my garden. Watching the chickens, asking about the veg, and then she had a really puzzled look on her face and turned to me and said "Aunty Debba, are you a farmer?"

Bless her heart, once I finished laughing I assured her that my chickens and veg were my fun hobby and I wasn't a farmer! :D
