Hi all

i'm so excited we are going to outgate poultry on sat to get my ladies. the gentleman I spoke to was brill, gave me lots of advice and they do free one to one sessions covering everything you need to know, they do a starter pack with food, feeder, bedding etc and you can ring or email anytime after you get your birds for help.they are all free range home bred and he asked me lots of questions which made me feel that the birds are obviously well cared for.he suggested a few of breeds he thought would suit.rangers, sussex, amber and speckledy.

they have a website if anyone wants to look and tell me what they think,I would love any feedback.

thanks

Alli

sorry about rambling on just really excited :D

hi there, I got my four girls from outgate poultry in feb this year. :D one little brown hen amber has not stopped laying since 8th march even had a double yolker weighing 90grm. one light sussex cross the ring leader  took her longer to start laying 28th april not had a day off since. she,s the one who gets there first. these two very tame now. one speckeldy who has been broody for five weeks, just started laying again, nice dark brown eggs. she can be a bit short tempered when there is food about. And one regal looking bluebelle, lays a nearly white, small egg, four days on then has a day off. she is very nosey but don't like being picked up, she does sit on my husbands legs when he is sat with his legs up. All follows me about in the garden and if I run down the garden they run as well :lol: very comical. good luck with your new girls. Ann. Im in Hull by the way.where are you.

Hi Alli, i hope you get sorted, not sure i'm going to have much luck, my (red eglu) should be here on thursday and ive spoken to the chap at outgate this afternoon, i cant get across there till Monday/Tuesday so hes advised me to ring him Sunday evening or 1st thing Monday to see if and what he has left, he reckons what he has now will be gone by the end of the weekend, might get fixed with some from pets r wright at Preston if im out of luck, less choice, more expensive but they look to be in excellent condition.

Hi Alli

I got most of my girls from Outgate, the man there is lovely and really seems to care about his hens. He is a font of knowledge and very nice. Good luck with yours. I just got 6 more from him on saturday, 2 blues 2 speckeldys and 2 blackrocks. They are all lovely and already quite friendly.

Im near Hull too by the way :D

I think we have decided on 2 rangers and 2 sussex,he was so helpful and really didnt mind me bombarding him with questions, there is a place closer to us but I didnt get the same feel for it.coop is being delivered fri morning and as I couldnt get over on a day other than sat this week he has said if we go after 2 he will be able to have a bit of a one to one with us which I thought was a great idea,we are busy thinking of names and my partner who was meant to be taking a back seat is really getting into it,he keeps txtng me with stuff he has found on internet,he picked and ordered the coop and is really looking forward to picking up the hens on sat.
