i've just got a breadmaker and want to make malt loaf but not sure where to get malt extract would be very grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction

 

also looking for onion granules for my cheese and onion loaf. if i can't find them can i use caramalised onions, cos i love them

 

 

off to make chocolate bread with my ys's

boots use to sell it or a health food shop also home brew shops should stock it if your in north birmingham then I know a place that should stock it

As already said, chemists, healthfood shops and brewers suppliers are fine for malt extract. For the onion granules, you ought to have no trouble with finding them at the herbs and spices section of your local Sainsbury's or Tesco's. I suspect caramelised onion would not be so good because it's already been cooked and so will add a certain slightly bitter taste. I've had a bit of a surf around and found plenty of recipes for cheese and onion loafs that use fresh onions instead of granules, probably just reducing the fluid content slightly.

my tesco is useless i'll try with fresh onions instead, or just make cheese bread and spread my yummy caramalised onions on top

could you use dried onions? I'm sure I have seen packets of these in Sainsbury
