Hello fellow campers :!::!:

Four of us went camping to Buttermere hoping to walk up Haystacks. It rained :x

Two of us reacted really badly to midge bites, strange really as i've never bothered too much but I'm STILL scratching.

I won't use deet and citronella/eucalyptus seems to work for all of five minutes so I've just ordered some catnip oil to try. Wonder what my cat will make of that :lol:

Has anybody any other ideas for a decent repellent??

Avon's Skin So Soft Dry Oil Spray in Soft and Fresh.

We were recommended it by the company that ran cruise holiday's of the Hebrides - we did a cruise of the Outer Hebrides, including St Kilda and we really needed it on the islands when the weather went still and the midges descended.

Also used it during a week on the Isle of Canna last year, although the lady in the Tea Room was well equipped with it too. (She even had a different version/packaging to the one I get down south!)

You do need to keep reapplying it, but it works well, you smell nice and it keeps your skin soft! :D
