Tracy Howes
Hi - I need some help please. I have 3 chickens, but one( Rocky) has taken up residence in the nest box. This has lead to one of the other chickens laying her egg in the run, which has got broken and they ate it! Firstly, how do i stop Rocky from being broodie (I think this is what's happened) I have been collecting the eggs regularly. If i shut the eglu, then the others can't get in to lay their eggs. Secondly, what do i do about them having eaten an egg? Thanks xxx

Ain't Nobody Here
If she is broody, you can try turfing her off the nestbox as often as you are able, dunking her nether regions into a bucket of cold water, shutting the eglu door (if practicable) or if all that fails, put her into a broody cage (puppy crate or pet carrier can be used). If you find they are getting a taste for their own eggs, you can try putting some mustard into an egg to try to put them off the taste. (It won't do them any harm, it's just annoying if they get into the habit ).
