Happy chickens!

Thin shelled eggs

Recommended Posts

One of my girls was ill a few weeks ago, I thought we might lose her, but she recovered, although stopped laying for a bit. Now she is laying, but we are getting very thin shelled eggs from her - not softies, but very fragile and easily broken.

If I get some soluble calcium, will it be bad for the rest of the girls, whose eggs are fine (touch wood). They already have mixed grit available.

Someone has suggested that I 'take her off lay' by only feeding her corn, but this would mean keeping her separate, which isn't very practical for me at the moment.

Thanks.
