Sarahsausage
I noticed my coop had red mite in a couple of weeks ago despite using red mite powder. I purchased some Diatom last week as I believe it is supposed to kill them rather than deter them. Does anyone know how long it takes to kill them please? I dismantled the coop and gave it a thorough clean, added lots of diatom into all the cracks and crevices but each morning there are still red mite appearing. This morning there were quite a few, I guess the powder is drawing them out? I've been enjoying squashing them but will they ever stop? (I've also powdered the chooks and will be doing so again tonight).
abwsco
You really need Poultry Shield. Flyte so Fancy offer really quick delivery. I got the 5 litres the other week, ordered over the phone on Wednesday morning and it was with me on Thursday. It's also best to use a pressure sprayer so you can really soak all the gaps and joints. They also sell a 2 litre sprayer. Use the PS as soon as you can and then I'd do it again in 3 days and then again in 3 days dusting with diatom when the coop is dry. Also, get out of all your clothes when you've cleaned the coop and wash them, wash all the tools you've used and your shoes and go for a shower. Good luck and hopefully this will work for you.
