Can chickens hiccup?

Recommended Posts

For the last 3 days when we have been doing combined free-ranging I have laid out meal worms. Rose eats these very quickly and makes a noise that sounds like a hiccup. She doesn't do this any other time.

Can Chickens have hiccups when they eat treats too fast or is it a weird response noise to free-ranging with the newbies? :?

One of mine burps after wolfing her treats down, (usually it's just one burp, but it's a 'builders burp' so to speak, and not very ladylike).

I don't know what I'd do if I saw a hiccup! My motherly urge would want to try and get her a drink, the rest of me would probably think it was cute and get a fit of the giggles!

Hope Rose is okay with her hiccups and they're not causing her any problems! x

My Chalkie hiccups!! Im sure its a hiccup! She does it after treats, but she sometimes also does it whilst she's having a dust bath - it sounds very much like a hiccup. She is the only one of my four that does it, i dont know if its a coincidence that she is the greediest one
