Margalot
I think I may have left this a bit too late!..........My darling OH is 40 at the end of August and I would like to turn some of his through the ages pictures in to one of those lovely memory books, I can scan the pictures myself, but does anyone know of anywhere in or near Swindon that offers this service? i would like to chat to someone about putting it all together, and not too keen using the online services that I have managed to find on Google.(the prices seem to vary!) If anyone else has done something similar I would be really grateful to listen to ideas etc Thank you Michelle x
Olly
Afraid I've only done this online, but it is very good - and I don't think you're too late. I've used Photobox. It's quite fiddly scanning all the photos and uploading them, and sometimes they are not good enough quality to have the size you want, but the end result is quite impressive. It is made very easy for you as you just choose templates and upload the photos, once you've played around a few times you will get the hang of it, and you can save it and go back to it as many times as you want, you don't commit to buy until you're entirely happy with it. I've done this twice recently for 60th birthdays (eldest brother and eldest sister), the book only cost about £25-30 as I recall. It's very worthwhile - we wanted to do a sort of 'this is your life' so I scanned in baby announcement cards, old photos, newspaper cutting of EBs wedding and so on, right up to pictures of him with his new grandson, and was really pleased with the final book. You can add text but I didn't bother. If you can't find anywhere local, I'd definitely recommend trying the Photobox one.

That's almost as thoughtful a gift as a 160' bungee jump!

Lesley
My son used www.myphotobook.co.uk - it was beautiful quality, but he did have a voucher from Practical Photographer mag. and that made it a reasonable price. Places like Truprint and Jessops do them as well.
