Duck Pond Bargain - Update!Reduced!!

Recommended Posts

Hi

Yesterday in my local Tesco superstore I saw the Blue hard half Shell type childrens sandpits for £10

I think ideal for a pond and you could tip it out for emptying..

I said to my son, I would like one of those but he did remind me we have a great big natural pond! (um forgot that... )still a good product

But if you are thinking of a small pond for them to dabble and swim on it was about 1.2meters across

After trying to get a shell sandpit from argos (and failing -all sold out  ) my OH walked into Tesco's and found a stack of them all reduced!! Thankfully he came home with two -just in case something happens to one and the ducks love it  They had outgrown their trug and are now very happy with their new pond!! What a bargain!! :D

Hi,

I have bought one of the Argos apple shaped plastic paddling pool/sandpits for my trio of ducks - an Indian Runner (Indiana Jones) and two aylesbury Magpie X (Dyllis and Lavender) - they arrived yesterday and are so lovely! But I have noticed they have real trouble getting out of the pool because of the slippery sides - Dyllis especially :?

Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you solve it?

They can get out but it is a little bit of a strugge for them and I am concerned they may hurt themselves if they fall. Dyllis in particular has just been launching herself in and out in a clumsy fashion and while the other two are a little more elegant about it I can see it is still not easy for them.

I have put a couple of bricks in to act as steps for now which Indiana and Lavender are fairly successful at when they remember. Do you think Dyllis will eventually catch on or should I try and come up with another plan?

Thanks for your help

Sara (& Indiana, Lavender and dappy Dyllis!)

I was unsuccessful in finding any sandpits in Tesco - full or reduced price!

However, a "wanted" ad via Freecycle came up trumps.

Last night we collected an ELC blue plastic sandpit together with 3 bags of lovely sand.

A BIG thank you to Diane from the girls - they love it

Rgds,

Pat & Steve
