My DD was given an Orange phone and she was quite excited at the prospect of the 2 for 1 cinema offers. She texted the given number for tickets 6 times to get tickets for tomorrow. She didn't get any response so I phoned Orange yesterday to ask why. I was told that the offer is a prize draw. If you get your name drawn out you get a ticket for 35p, if you don't you get no ticket. Is it me or is this really misleading I don't see or hear any mention of this in their ads

You've got three ways of getting hold of your Orange Wednesdays 2 for 1 tickets, and they're all dead easy. Either:

Call 241 from your Orange mobile.

Go to Orange World, select 'Film', then 'Orange Wednesdays'.

I've been with Orange for years and never have a problem texting Film to 241. We're actually thinking about doing this tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see if it works now after reading your post Chucky. In fact, I'll do it now ........ and within 5 seconds the usual reply from them with the number required for the cinema.

 

I think there must be some confusion Chucky - is it a new phone, was it a gift?

DS wanted an Orange phone because of this - he still doesn't have one because the reception is poor for this area - particularly for receiving calls in our home - OH had to change because he had to stand outside the house every time he had a call! Some of DS's friends have them even so. They've all been to the cinema many a time with this. Very strange, Chucky Mama - they don't mention it in the ads at the cinema either.

It doesn't say anything about a prize draw but does say there might be priority given to certain customers, perhaps she wanted tickets to a very popular showing?

It all sounds very odd to me. I am going to phone again and see what is going on. I can't believe that this is right as they wouldn't be able to advertise like this if it was a prize draw.

Just spoke to DD and told her that there must be something not quite right 'could it be that I only have 8p credit' she said . The text with the ticket code costs 35p!!!!!arghhh!!! This could well be the problem. We are going to top the phone up and see what happens

All now sorted, topped up the phone and texts all came through (silly moo!). I still don't understand why the woman on the phone told me it was a prize draw

because the less time they spend on each call, the better their bonus will be at the end of the month!

 

I've worked in call centres for 3 different telecoms companies for approx 16 years in total and in all that time the various management couldn't get it thru their thick skulls that if you bonus people for short call handling times then that's what you're going to get! Most of the advisors don't care, they'll say anything to cut the call short because all they want is their bonus, they don't care about customer service. You'll get the occasional advisor who puts customer service above their bonus but not many!
