C&T
We have had a problem, whereby if the back door is open even the smallest amount, the chickens come in. This in itself is OK, except for the pressies they leave on the carpet!! We now have a stairgate across our back door, and at long last we can leave the back door open, happy that the chooks should stay outside!! But Fred is not liking this. Not one bit. For over an hour last night she was by the back door, peering in through the bars. At first she was just talking to us (always a vocal one), but by the end she was full on growling - really loudly!! Who knows what the neighbours thought! Nothing was in the garden to scare her or anything, think she just wanted to come in for some mealworms and watch Eastenders!! Hen Watch
They are naughty little creatures aren't they My lot used to camp out at the back door too. It's fully glass so they would peer in and tap on the glass door with their beaks when they saw us - very sweet. In summer we used a fire guard over the open door but they soon worked out how to get over it. The poop presents at the back door weren't so good and finally hubbie had had enough and now they live behind netting in their own bit of garden. Scramble
Why not try putting newspaper on the carpet We don't mind them coming in as we have a tiled floor in the conservatory I know how demanding they can be though! Yolko pecks my ankle if I refuse her mealworms

They have made it through the lounge and half way up the stairs in the past though - much to our shock as we started to come down the stairs Not sure where they thought they were going, or what they would find!!
