Willow
I read this book ages ago and meant to re-read before commenting but not got to it yet. I found it very compelling and sad. You knew it would end badly for him. Early on it was difficult to follow but as the timelines built up it got easier to keep track. A very good read. jlo
I went to see it this aft with my daughter and a friend. It was very poor. I know it is a complex tale and you have to have your wits about you, but it came nowhere near to capturing the intricacy and beauty of the story. Very disappointing. Straight to DVD standard. I do know what you mean Egluntine. I have just been to see the film with some girlfriends (one of which still has my copy of the book which I really should try and get back!!) To be honest, my expectations of films are always quite low as I have never yet come across one that measures up to the book. Bearing that in mind, I did enjoy the film for what it was - a couple of hours of not too demanding entertainment. My friends enjoyed it too so, whilst I wouldn't rave about it, I wouldn't be too damning! I thought that they dealt with his different ages quite well. It amused us how all they did with Claire was cut her hair and make it go a bit darker!
