Chucky Mama
Finally after nearly 5 long months my uselessly broody bluebelle Monica (too greedy to stay on the nest!) has layed or at least we think she has. There were 4 eggs this morning and 1 was not quite right plus there were 3 eggs and a lash a couple of weeks ago so we are hoping that she is coming back into lay. So all of the threats of a 'Monica' roast may have worked after all. Edited August 4, 2009 by Guest

Faye&Ant
Well done Monica , we are on our 5th month with broody little helen - she has just snapped out of it again but I wont hope for any eggs for a while
woffle
We had our 1st broody hen this summer - started 3.5 weeks ago. We lifted her from the eggs every day (she'd let the others lay and then snaffle them to sit on) and hoped this would minimize things but weren't sure what to expect. Didn't fancy the dunking in cold water though - she was homicidal enough as it was without the indignity of a icy bum adding to her temper. This morning I went down to let them out and feed them and she came trotting out as if nothing had been happening the last month or so. Fingers crossed she'll be back laying soon... (The shame of it is that our neighbour has just put some eggs into an incubator - it'd have been nice to let Maisy sit and hatch them - apparently Maran's make good Mum's)
