AJuff
Our three rescued marans had been with us for almost a year. In that time they had started to do chickeny things like scratch about and and dust bathe. Some of their feathers have never grown back. They were bottom of the pecking order and caused mahem ay 5.30am. They were always different from the others and have never been totally accepted. I had until yesterday 13 hens and between them I have been overwhelmed by how many eggs they lay. I cannot cope with so many eggs. I have regular orders and give my neighbours and friends. I bake regularly and we all eat eggs. Believe it or not it has been stressful dealing with so many eggs. So when a friend said she was looking for three new hens I offered her the marans and she loved them when she saw them. So they have gone onto a new home. What a difference in the hen house! All is so calm and happy . . peace has been restored and three happy marans are now in a lovely new hen house and run.

Olly
Sometimes that's the best answer - I bet your friend is thrilled to have them, too.

emmamakeup
That's a great story and very a positive outcome for all concerned. I really like marans - lovely I have three chooks and they are all laying every day - yesterday I had 9 eggs stored up and didn't know what to do with them all so how you go on with all those eggs. It is great though - I still get a real sense of contentment when I go and collect mine.
