4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I'm taking delivery of 3, 9 week old Light Sussex / Rhode Island Red cross birds tomorrow.

They've been off a heat lamp, so should be fine outside. The eglu is all clean and ready for them, but it's a long time since I had such young birds.

Should they go on to layer's mash, or should I give them a growers food?

 

Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

For a couple of months, or until the first egg appears?

young 'uns get growers feed from about 6 weeks to POL (so about 18/20 weeks or so - altho you could probably feed it a bit longer without any bother)

I give growers till about 14 weeks until I integrate them with the older birds......it's not possible to give them separate feed and doesn't do them a bit of harm.

Definitely Growers for now. Layers contains too much calcium for this stage.
