mikk100
I seem to be getting bitten a lot since getting the hens 10 days ago, I've had a look at one hen thoroughly and can't see any sign of anything but then I'm not at all experienced at what to look for. Also I have all the powders to put on them but they are ex-battery and I don't want to bombard them with chemicals too soon. I was thinking they won't have any mites or lice or worms if they've just come from the public food chain because surely they have to be treated for all this in the battery? Plum
Yes I have lots of bites but it's all the midges around the coop area. I spend so much time of an evening down there talking to them and watching them go to bed. I'm going to smother myself with Avon Skin So Soft when I can get some its supposed to be a good deterant to wildlife.
Chook n Boo Mum
I also get eaten alive as I spend more time outside at dusk watching & chatting to the chooks...and nursing Buffie, bless her! Put some diatom in their bedding and dustbath, and if you can catch them give them a dose all over, this would give you a fighting chance of keeping nasty little critters at bay, good luck Sha x
