I'm wondering what to do with my eglu run + converter now my chooks are in their WIR.

What have others done with theirs: sell it (is there a market for second hand runs?) or keep it just in case? I'm a dreadful hoarder, but guess it would take up a lot of space and can't imagine when I might need it without an eglu.

There is a market for second hand runs, but I'd keep it - I actually bought a second-hand one, in order to create an introduction area for a new chicken. You never know when you'll need a separate area, and you might either be able to use it inside your WIR or attach it to the side or something.

And I've also used it, as ANH says, to protect bits of the garden when newly planted!

I've used two sections with the skirting bit inside my run to keep the glug and grub on it. Handily its where there is a channel in the floor of my run so it keeps my girls safe until we can concrete it in. I might think whether I can use the rest of it as a way to seperate any new girls I might get in the future. :D

I'd keep it. I'm sure it'll come in handy... but of couse surely the obvious choice is to buy another eglu to attach to it!

I did that! :oops::lol:

I also sold an Eglu run recently and although was very happy with the sale to a fellow forum member and its gone to a good home I regretted it instantly as now I have a poorly hen to house :lol: I've sorted it out now though so all is well but the Eglu run would have been ideal. When I build the next run I will keep hold of the second Eglu run certainly

Also look at ANH's thread about her new girls, she has used the Eglu run inside the walk in run as temp accom :D
