Fur 'n' Feathers

Aaawwwwww!!! How cute!

Recommended Posts

Well the 2 girlies jumped from the doorway of their new cube this morning, taking a short flappy flight as they did so.

Looked out the bedroom window half an hour ago and there was NO sign of them in the run  Went down to the cube & tentatively snuck the egg port open a little.....and they were BOTH in the nesting area, quite happy 8)8):)

This is even stranger as Kilo hasn't laid for nearly three weeks as she's going through a moult. Perhaps it might encourahge her to get on a bit & start laying again with her "role model" beside her :lol::lol:

its sounds like they are very happy in their new home :D Isn't their new home a tad enormous for 2 hens

Aww thats lovely, they must love their new home, bit big for them tho, me thinks some little friends might be nice :whistle::lol:

Absolutely 8)8)8) They'll have to learn to share in October when the Brown Nick & Coral arrive :lol::lol:

We intend to gradually build up to 6 hens. That's why we set up this size. Also, the current ladies are used to free-ranging at times, so it will gradually wean them down to a little less room without too much trouble.

We've worked out that we can get the eglu in the end of the run so intend to have them completely separate initially for quarantine purposes and then split the run with bamboo poles, as someone kindly put as a suggestion for intros. We'll put the eglu in the door end so they have somewhere to sleep and lay and put the food and drink just either side of the separating poles so they learn to tolerate eachother's presence in safety..... well that's the plan. Will it work? Hope so.

In the meantime Kilo & Krasi can roam happily in the space they have.
