Amy83
A friend of mine bought some day old chicks yesterday but their mun (i'm assuming it was a broody hen of theirs) has attacked them and now only one has survived! The chick is indoors and wrapped up warm and is drinking well but my friend doesnt know what to feed it, can anyone suggest anything to give it some nutrients?? Any suggestions muchly appreciated! Ygerna
She will need to get some chick crumbs, and teach it to eat by making pecking motions with her hand, picking up crumbs and dropping them down again. The chick really needs a brooder lamp though, to replace the warmth of the hen or the chick wont stand much chance. Can I ask, was the broody on eggs or did she just buy some chicks and pop them under the hen? Its not clear from your post what she did. Egluntyne
I was wondering the same Ygerna. The chick will definitely need to go under a brooder if it is to stand any chance.
