We've just collected 2 new chicks (8-9 weeks old) and they are in with our 2 big girls. They have been feeding on layers pellets but should they be having growing pellets? If so is it okay for the older 2 to eat the growing pellets as well. We'll obviously leave out the layers as usual but I can't see how to stop all the chickens eating everyone else's food. They have to be in the same area and share the Eglu at night so can't keep them separate.

I think the growers pellets might be OK for your older girls,but they might become a bit big (have read some people give them to birds for the pot)

The younger ones should definitely be on growers. If they eat together, the others will come to no harm on growers too. for a short while. I'd make sure there is plenty of mixed poultry grit for them to access.
