Wanted - new home for Dorking

Recommended Posts

We are looking to rehome our silver Dorking hen (Professor). She is approximately 8 months old, lays small white eggs and is a lovely bird to look at, but quite nervous with people. However, her habit of feather pulling has forced us to reconsider her stay with us!

We have tried fitting a bumper bit, but for some reason they don’t stay on her beak and distractions in terms of food/ facilities in the run haven’t worked either. So, although we will be sorry to see her go, we don’t have any choice other than to rehome her as our Barnevelder and Wernlas Olive can’t have their feathers plucked anymore.

As the Dorking is a large bird we think she would probably be better homed in a free-ranging environment with other Dorkings or another large breed; she is currently living in a walk-in run with cube attached and our other 2 hens are smaller than her.

If anyone thinks they may be able to offer her a home, please contact me through the private message email and I can give you more details.
