I got my 4 hens from Hens4homes. I chose this farm because the hens free range all the time. The set up on the farm seemed to be a bit chaotic but the hens do seem happy and healthy and that's the main thing! Also, they offer a service where they will keep the hens you choose together in a pen for a couple of weeks where they get the worst of the pecking done without you having to watch it. Great idea!

I don't remember seeing any silkies or orpingtons but she may be able to get some for you. I know she has stopped breeding some pure breeds as they were being regularly stolen

Don't know if you have bought your chickens yet, but we live in Bishops Stortford and bought our chickens from a lovely family run farm in Hitchin.

They were brilliant - all vaccs given, and the even clipped their wings for us. £13 each!

 

Their name is Stagenhoe chickens .... highly recommended!!

I live in Bishops stortford too. Ive decided to get 2 ex batts from the arc animal shelter near my house. We're collecting them tomorrow!!
